Direct Medical Data is led by our three partners who are jointly responsible for the strategic direction, day-to-day operations, and customer service of the company. Together they represent over 75 years of healthcare data experience.

Louis D. Dixon – Partner

Lou has over twenty-five years’ experience in management information systems, operations, and sales management. Prior to the birth of DMD, he worked at Acxiom Corporation on a joint venture with the American Medical Association called Healthcare Connect. In 2001, Lou teamed up with Norm and Bob and bought that venture from Acxiom as the foundation of Direct Medical Data. His previous experience includes time spent starting and running the list division for Medical Economics, a company best known for their Physicians Desk Reference file, which Lou was instrumental in developing. He also served as VP of Operations for Business Mailers, Inc. where he ran the data processing, customer service, distribution, and shipping departments until the company was sold to a large corporation. Lou has a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Illinois and an MBA from DePaul University.

Robert J. Sbarbaro – Partner

Bob brings over twenty years of sales and sales management experience in the healthcare data marketplace to his leadership role at DMD. A born-and-raised New Yorker, he attended Wagner College on Staten Island where he studied programming and earned a degree in computer science in 1982. He then attended the Chubb Institute to further his computer education. His first programming job, at Clark O’Neil, taught him, however, that he preferred dealing with people on a daily basis instead of machines. He transitioned into customer service and then sales, and never looked back. In 1988 Bob joined Business Mailers, Inc., eventually becoming the Vice President of Sales for the East Coast. Bob then took a similar role with Buckley Dement where he met Lou and Norm, and the three of them were instrumental in growing the business until deciding to start their own.

Norman E. Swanson – Partner

As a partner at Direct Medical Data, Norm draws from nearly thirty years of sales and marketing experience in healthcare data services. From 1989 to 1999, he managed various groups at Acxiom Corporation (formerly Buckley Dement, Inc.), rising from General Manager of their healthcare list group to Senior Vice President of their entire data products division. During his tenure, he increased the product line from five healthcare lists to over fifty and grew sales six-fold in seven years. He also developed their healthcare publishing fulfillment product and negotiated the acquisition of a list brokerage company, resulting in an additional $2.5 million in revenues. Prior to Acxiom, he was a sales representative at Business Mailers, Inc. where he increased annual revenues in his territory from $100K to $1.2 million in just five years. Norm graduated from Roosevelt University in Chicago with a BSBA in Marketing.
