Our Conversation with Dr. Arnold Meyer of Temple University Over the last year, the entire medical community has begun making profound changes that affect every aspect of the profession, including continuing medical education. However, CME was already in We thought it would be interesting to hear from a CME expert on just what has been going on, so we turned to Temple University’s Dr. Arnold Meyer. Marketers Must Adapt to Healthcare Changes The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is planning to introduce new rules to govern medical marketing, as if the new law didn’t pose enough of a challenge for healthcare marketers already. John Meyer, Acxiom’s CEO comments on the future of healthcare marketing, and how new laws, different rules, and advancing technologies will help form the new face of healthcare marketing. AMA Physicians Our FICS video this month demonstrates how to use the system to select exactly the physicians you want through prescribing and procedural data. It is one of our tightest target tools! Be sure to take a look at our AMA Physicians database. DMD maintains the most comprehensive AMA database in the industry. With over 848,000 physicians selectable by a wide range of criteria including specialty, subspecialty, board certification and more. The best way to use such a vast database is to break it down into manageable segments by pinpointing the characteristics that can help you most. Take a look at our AMA/AOA Medicounts. You can see some of the many ways we can "slice" the data, and get a general idea of how physicians break out among the various specialties. You will see why our AMA Physcian Database is the best in the business. September is Leukemia Awareness Month You don’t have to be a medical professional nor a patient to have been affected by leukemia. Each year, more than 44,000 Americans are diagnosed with the disease. It wasn’t that long ago that a leukemia diagnosis was fatal. However, through the dedicated work of researchers, and the bravery of those afflicted with the disease it is much more survivable now, and new treatments have been developed that are helping more patients. Remember this month to reach out to medical professionals who have helped slow this disease, the survivors who are battling it today and most of all those who have succumbed to it. Visit Us at The National Task Force on CME’s Annual Conference As our interview with Dr. Arnold Meyer shows, continuing medical education is an even greater concern for the medical profession now than ever before. That's why we think the annual conference of the National Task Force on CME is so important. DMD is proud to announce that we will be an exhibitor again this year. Anyone involved in delivering CME to healthcare professionals, would do well to attend. It is a rare opportunity to shape the future of CME, and we at DMD plan to contribute however we can at this critical time. We hope to see you in Baltimore this October 13-15.
